Effect of combined dynamic and static workload on heart rate recovery cost

Article Abstract:

Researchers have developed a simplified model of heart rate recovery cost. Its use in the working environment would necessitate the minimum of interference to normal work routine. The two parameters in the formula are heart rate increase whilst undertaking a physical task, and recovery time after completion of the task. The researchers applied the model to situations involving combined static and dynamic workloads.

Comparative analysis of the workload in seated and standing horizontal submaximal lifting tasks

Article Abstract:

A study of the physiological differences involved in seated and standing horizontal lifting tasks reveals that seated lifting is less stressful when the weight of the object lifted is less than or equal to 4.6 kg.m.min. Subjects either stood or sat at a chest-high table from which they lifted an object and moved it to a table behind them.

An investigation of stability limits while holding a load

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to examine the effects of load height and foot placement on the functional base of support (FBOS) limits and the postures of the participants when they reach their FBOS limits is presented. According to the results, load height had greater effect on the posterior FBOS limit.
