Consumer electronics products are dividing themselves into 2 areas: those that are strong enough to weather themselves through the recession and those that too weak to survive these poor economic times. Manufacturers are polled on their outlook for the year. Videogames and home computers are the most popular products with a good future. Consumer electronics products are broken down and detailed statistics are provided.

Tenth Annual Consumer Survey

A total of 1,900 shoppers were interviewed for Merchandising's annual consumer survey. Questions were asked at selected shopping locations in every region of the country. The consumers tell why, how, where and when they make their purchases.

60th annual statistical and marketing report

Looking back at the 5-year tables, it's easy to see that consumers were not in a buying mood in 1981. One bright spot for retailers was in the video and audio categories.
