Sales tax squeeze

Article Abstract:

The Ernst and Young accounting firm disclosed that corporations overpay state and local sales taxes by some $14 billion every year. Experts explain the practice is a result of overly convoluted and diverse laws which corporations find too difficult to accurately keep track of. The manufacturing industry is especially vulnerable to the situation due to the more than 7,000 kinds of taxes on different kinds of transactions. Experts advise managers to use available software to ease the burden of tax management.
