Engineering

Article Abstract:

United Kingdom engineering firms have seen drops in their stock prices as a result of the Asian financial crisis and the high value of pound sterling. The pound started to increase in value in Oct 1996, and has hit profits of exporting companies. Engineering firms are sensitive to economic cycles, and UK and North American growth expectations have been revised downwards, so engineering firms are likelyto be affected. Companies in this sector have, however, been helped by better distribution and new technology, and pound sterling will eventually drop in value.
