Establishing a formal mentoring program for organizational success

Article Abstract:

Among the benefits of structured mentoring programs in organizations are efficient and effective training approaches and rigorous career planning. The organization of such programs requires certain steps such as recruiting and selecting partners and evaluation and decision-making. An information mentoring relationship also has certain benefits but several problems also arise from such approach such as the development of resentment on the part of the mentors when the company fails to recognize their contributions and rumors that may arise from mentor and protege of opposite sexes.

Assessing the impact of training programs on the bottom line

Article Abstract:

A survey of 50 Canadian firms was carried out to determine the effect of human resource development programs on business performance. The poll evaluated employee training results via control groups, interrupted time-series, estimates of training effectiveness and a cost-benefit analysis to determine return on investments. The results indicated that training with respect to technical competence, management skills and work attitudes result in higher productivity and cost savings.
