Europe

Article Abstract:

European stock markets have performed well due to improved economic growth and a drop in interest rates. There has also been a new focus on stockholder value and this is backed by legislation allowing stock buybacks. Local investors are also finding stock markets increasingly attractive. European monetary union has helped push down interest rates in peripheral markets like Portugal and Spain. Increased competition is also likely to affect companies in Europe.
