Factors influencing wealth creation from mergers and acquisitions: a meta-analysis

Article Abstract:

A study of empirical literature on mergers and acquisitions was conducted, using a multivariate framework and regression analysis, to explore the factors that affect the creation of shareholder wealth from the consolidation of business enterprises. These factors were identified to be regulatory changes, the number of bidders, the bidder's approach, the mode of payment, and the type of acquisition. Results of the analyses supported the hypothesis that the simultaneous impact of these factors on mergers and acquisition determine wealth gain.

The use of NPV in newly industrialized and developing countries: a.k.a. "what have we ignored?"

Article Abstract:

Financial managers in newly industrialized and emerging countries express reluctance in employing net present value (NPV) techniques in decision-making processes due to high risks associated with capital investments. Another reason belying NPV's limited popularity is the failure of managers to meet the assumptions governing the technique. Experts believe that the economic scope of NPV needs to expand and its static approach be refocused in order to optimize its application in capital budgeting.
