Farming it out: contract publishers help marketers produce customer-targeted magazines

Article Abstract:

The hassles involved in publishing prompted WordPerfect Corp and Lotus Development Corp to establish separate companies to produce their customer-targeted magazines. Most other companies, however, find it more advantageous to employ contract publishers because it is less expensive than hiring additional staff. Furthermore, contract publishers turn out more professional-looking magazines, assess contents more objectively, and have an advantage in selling advertising. It is important, however, to choose the right publisher by looking at samples of their work and securing references.
