Fat cats skate on thin ice

Article Abstract:

A survey of the salaries of the FTSE 100 financial directors (FDs) shows that despite the jobs being well paid there is a record turnover in the top jobs at the UK's largest companies. Some are the result of retirements or the activities of headhunters, some are owing to natural career progression while some FDs became casualty of poor corporate performance and cost cutting.

The men on a million

Article Abstract:

Accountancy's annual survey for 2006 has reported that more than one in three FTSE 100 financial directors (FDs) have broken the #1 million pay barrier and all of them are male. The average base salary of the FDs has remained stagnant, but a sharp increase in bonus payments has resulted in a 7% increase in total remuneration packages in 2006.

A 2007 survey reveals that finance directors of 41 of the 96 Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange 100 (FTSE 100) firms earned over Pounds Sterling 1 million in remuneration that year. This is due to higher base salaries and substantial performance-related bonuses.
