Fine China

Article Abstract:

Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Asst. Dir. Sylvia Smith attended a conference of auditors in China as part of an exchange program between China's Audit Aministration and Canada's Office of the Auditor General. Smith noted that China's auditing standards has full control over the entire system, including the selection of who can become auditors. However, she added that her Chinese counterparts were extremely interested in the concept of self-regulation. Smith had been able to visit China on several occassions and she was impressed with the rapid pace of development in the country during her most recent visit.
