Foreign immersion: overseas postings broaden horizons for CAs and their firms

Article Abstract:

Most large accounting firms offer international transfer programs which allow their chartered accountants (CA) to work abroad. These transfer programs expose CAs to different accounting practices around the world, which allows CAs to develop greater flexibility and a better understanding of worldwide accounting and business practices. The companies likewise benefit from the experience acquired by their CAs who, because of the transfer programs, deal better with multinational and foreign clients. The CAs also tend to stay longer with the companies that offer transfer programs.

CIPA Pres Uwe Manski believes the act will promote more investment efforts and help businessmen save their financially strapped firms from bankruptcy. Manski particularly lauds the ruling's elimination of trust claims by the federal and provincial government on bankrupt firms.
