France: not yet

Article Abstract:

The French stock market is not likely to perform well in the three months from Oct 1995, according to Morgan Stanley. There is unlikely to be a large enough drop in interest rates to help the market, and the French franc is not likely to be devalued. Exports and industry would be aided by a drop in the value of the franc, but interest rates are a more important factor, affecting economic growth and exacerbating concern over the budget deficit. There is doubt as to whether the budget deficit can be kept to 3% of gross domestic product.

Article Abstract:

Jokes and humorous items spread on the Internet may go global, but they still have the attributes of localized folk humor. A joke may be selected out if a user erases it. A favorite joke in 1995 stated that the Roman Catholic church was acquired by Microsoft. Both entities issued denials.

An appetite for mystery
