Funds for all the family

Article Abstract:

There are many different sorts of personal equity plan (Pep) available in the UK, and it is possible to find a Pep suitable for any personal financial circumstance. For younger investors, Peps offer lump sum and regular savings without requiring a large financial commitment. It is always wise to keep part of the Pep portfolio in a reliable, predictable market. For older investors, Peps offer a range of high-yielding formats, including income shares and derivative-based funds.

Cashing in on Pep allowances

Article Abstract:

Personal equity plans (Peps) can be a valuable source of tax-free income or capital gains. They are particularly appropriate for those whose capital gains tax allowance is likely to be used on gains elsewhere and for higher-rate taxpayers who are entitled to relief from both income and capital gains tax at their maximum rate of tax. It will not be possible to open a new Pep or add to existing Peps when the new individual savings account is introduced in 1999.

Investors must be choosers

Article Abstract:

There are many different factors to take into account when choosing a personal equity plan (Pep). It is worth avoiding paying any additional initial charges, and consideration must be given to extra annual charges. The potential investor must look at additional costs arising from raising the capital to take up the Pep allowance, and must look at whether a Pep offers a free and secure transfer into a full and competitive Individual Savings Account.
