Willcox & Gibbs Inc

Willcox and Gibbs Chmn and CEO John Ziegler has estimated a 70- to 72-cent earning for 1992, a 12-cent increase from 1991. The company has sold its yarn manufacturer, Worldtex, and two of its distributors, Data Net and Dataspan. Willcox and Gibbs has also finalized an exchange agreement with Compagnie de Distribution de Materiel Electrique. These developments are designed to foster shareholder value. The firm posted a 52-cent earning for the nine months ended Sep 1992 in contrast to 22 cents for the same period in 1991.

The debt-free company gives a $1-dividend on 115 million shares.

Williams purchased 14,000 shares last Feb 22, 1993 at the cost of $33.88 each, raising his stakes by 233% to 20,000. Williams' action is noteworthy since he has an impeccable trading history. Another three insiders bought 6,678 shares since Oct 1992 at the $29.50 to $31.88 level. The volume of buyings suggests that good fundamentals are forthcoming.
