Article Abstract:

The advent of the European Monetary Union (EMU) has meant that currency risks within the new euro area have disappeared, and countries have become less significant than sectors. Price transparency is one effect of Emu. Domestic companies are likely to become overshadowed by major European enterprises. The major companies in Europe include Allianz, the German insurer, BASF, the German chemicals company, and Cap Gemini, the French computer services company.

In response, consumers are aggressively fighting to protect the applications to which personal information about them can be put. Fortunately, governments and companies are also entering the fray with legislation and policies aimed at protecting the right of individuals to privacy.
