Giambastiani urges 'win' for defense firms on both sides of Atlantic

Article Abstract:

Admiral Edmund Giambastiani, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has urged adoption of European defense integration strategies that would benefit both the US and European defense contractors. A former NATO commander, Giambastiani has supported the proposals put forward by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) that urges integration as a means to strengthen European militaries.

Boeing joins GMAS team bidding for JCA

Article Abstract:

The Boeing Co. would join one of two rival industry teams competing for the Joint Cargo Aircraft (JCA) program in 2006. The Boeing Integrated Defense Systems is joining L-3 Integrated Systems and Finmeccanica's Alenia North America Inc. in their bid to win the Army/Air Force contract in a partnership known as Global Military Aircraft Systems (GMAS).

Rand Corporation reports that some Chinese defense enterprises are designing and producing a wide range of advanced weapons. The Rand report examined the capabilities of the Chinese missile, shipbuilding, military aviation and information technology/defense electronics sectors.
