Article Abstract:

The changes and resultant pressures faced by Chief Financial Officers globally due to international convergence in markets, currencies and business practices are highlighted. The 35th World Congress of the International Association of Financial Executives Institutes brought to the table several concerns over globalization including US dominance in the global economy and the issue of accounting standards harmonization and adoption in the European Union.

Article Abstract:

Dirk E. Witteveen executive director of the Dutch central bank and chairman of the Joint Forum, has given his views on the nature of the international convergence of governance and reporting standards and critical business issues. He feels that the regulators should provide a framework ensuring a degree of security to society and also give full respect to the requirements of industries for an acceptable outcome and framework.
