Article Abstract:

Grand Metropolitan shares have underperformed in the four years to Jul 1996 and the company has been affected by overcapacity in the spirit drinks industry. Four brokers of a sample of six rate the company's shares a hold while two rate them a buy. The buyers are Lehman Brothers which emphasises the company's earnings from the US food business, and UBS, which sees a price rise in spirit drinks as likely to persist. Holders include James Capel and Merrill Lynch.
