Univak supplies components for vacuum containment and is seeking to expand the range of industrial applications that it caters for, with sales to semiconductor companies dropping to 45% of the total from 65%. The company has a distribution agreement with a US customer which will take risks from distribution in the US. The United Kingdom accounts for 20% of the company's market and Univak aims to increase its share in the global market to some 5% by year-end 2000.

Electron House is a computer components concern which has benefited from increased demand which has boosted interim pre-tax profit for 1994 by 54% to 2.5 million pounds sterling. The company benefits from barriers to entry which give protection against oversupply in the market. Electron is also moving away from dependence on PCs, with semiconductors forming an increasing proportion of sales. The company's shares are recommended for investors in Feb 1995.
