Repetitive work in perspective

Article Abstract:

Repetitive work comprises several dangers to the health of the workers. It appears that the ergonomists has relied on outdated notions of industrial repetitive work. The notion of drab work without intellectual content has made ergonomists give the opinion that repetitive work be given up. It precluded the chances of devising ways to improve the situation. Repetitive work is going to continue in the world for a long time.

Cognitive ergonomics: it's all in the mind

Article Abstract:

Differences between classical and cognitive ergonomics are analyzed. It is argued that classical ergonomics embraces dualism, wherein the effects of work on the body is separated from the effects of work on the mind. On the other hand, cognitive ergonomics focuses on the effects of work on the mind and vice versa. The definitions of risk and human-computer interaction in classical and cognitive ergonomics are discussed.
