High-end binoculars sell well

Article Abstract:

Binoculars with a low price point oftentimes delay the consumer's desire to move up to a more feature-ladenmodel. Typically, 22% of binocular buyers are upgrading to a pair at a higher price point. Many consumers do not truly understand enhanced features when talking about optics but readily see the added value in waterproofing or appreciate a field of view up to three times as wide as one gets with standard binocular models of similar magnification. At the top performance price point, the Baush and Lomb Elite binocular line continues to be a top seller in a market segment that places them in competition with Leica, Swarovski and Nikon and Steiner models.
