High-flying Megalomedia makes a storming return

Megalomedia is a UK company which provides TV services and is involved in contract publishing. The group includes Graduate Appointments, a recruitment company, a 50% stake in Forward, a publisher, and a 40% stake in Framestore, a post-production concern providing digital effects for television productions. Megalomedia has over 2 million pounds sterling for acquisitions and is also likely to carry out more share issues. The company's shares are seen as fairly priced in Dec 1995.

Columbus discovers value in data mining

Columbus is a publisher which reversed into Carnell in Jun 1996. The group includes Chartsearch which has a database to to which Carnell's database has been added. Chartsearch is involved in list broking as well as consumer subscription publishing. The company has database management skills which have allowed it to move into the management of loyalty cards. Columbus' profit is forecast at 1.6 million pounds sterling for 1996 to 1997.
