House committee passes $146b defense bill

Article Abstract:

The House Appropriations Committee approved a $416.1 billion bill for the Department of Defense for fiscal 2005, as it needs to get more money quickly to pay for the U.S. war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The appropriations are intended to serve as a funding bridge until 2005 when a fiscal year 2005 supplemental request will be submitted to cover the remaining costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan operations, as well as the global war on terrorism.
