Article Abstract:

Memphis, TN, has become 'America's Distribution Center' through its aggressive marketing campaign. With the combined efforts of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce, Walker & Assoc. Advertising, and the city's distribution sector, Memphis was able to shake its image as a 'decaying, backwater, Mississippi River town' and to promote its numerous business opportunities. Since 1993, the city has been able to attract 55 distribution operations that now occupy over seven million feet of warehouse space.
