IBM, Microsoft war dominates windows show

Article Abstract:

The competition between Microsoft Corp. (Microsoft) and IBM has extended to Windows publishing. IBM and Microsoft have promoted their Windows publishing products by participating in trade shows and expositions such as Windows & OS/2 Conference and Exposition. The products which are slated to be introduced in the Windows World exhibition in Atlanta, GA, include Microsoft's Windows NT operating system. Trade magazines for Windows users are distributed during the conference to up-date buyers about the new Windows publishing products.

Microsoft unveiled Microsoft Windows NT, computer operating system at COMDEX/Spring 93, Atlanta, GA. NT, which represents the penetration of Microsoft of the client/server computing market, aims to replace the UNIX operating system. It is considered by Microsoft to be the most reliable, powerful and open operating system, enabling users to complete their more quickly, protecting against hardware crashing, and enabling quick recovery should it do so.

Microsoft Corp's two latest products, 'Upgrade Advisor' and MS-DOS 6.0, are selling well in the market. Upgrade Advisor is a diagnostic floppy disk that inventories a user's hardware and software, then suggests updates on new products from the software giant that can increase productivity. MS-DOS 6.0, the company's latest version of the operating system for personal computers, has been more favorably received than DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1 combined.
