Incumbent's advantage through exploiting complementary assets via interfirm cooperation

Article Abstract:

Research on alliances between new biotechnology companies and large pharmaceutical firms shows incumbents focusing network strategy on exploiting complementary assets do better than incumbents exploring new technology. However, these effects are limited by diminishing marginal returns to alliance intensity.

Entry barriers and new venture performance: a comparison of universal and contingency approaches

Article Abstract:

Contingency models using moderating effects of industry life cycle and venture strategy explained variance for 31% of profitability, 61% of shareholder wealth creation, and 45% of sales growth. The contingency approach is therefore useful in examining entry barriers to venture capital enterprises.

Many small and medium-sized businesses in Japan use foreign direct investment (FDI) as an entrepreneurial tool. Research has shown that high export levels concurrent with high FDI is less profitable than lower export levels with high FDI.
