The biotechnology industry are still concerned about political opposition to genetically modified organisms despite a revision made by the European Parliament on directive 90/220 for the release of GM organisms into the environment.

Scientists cry foul as Europe plays politics with GM crops

Article Abstract:

The bioscientists of the European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB, Spain) opposed the unscientific decision of the European Commission for the Environment on the use of genetically modified (GM) organisms (GMOs). The misconception about the environmental hazards of GMO release and the reports about the GM products likely to have any adverse influence on human and animal health or the environment are argued.
