Battle for e-commerce shipping business heats up

Article Abstract:

Internet-based electronic commerce is generating an ever-increasing mount of shipping business and, as a result, the US Postal Service (USPS) is aggressively competing against express shippers such as the United Postal Service and Federal Express to capture more parcel post shipping business. For instance, USPS has launched a low-cost Priority Mail service which is cheaper than the more expensive options being offered by express shippers.

Is "digital wallpaper" the next profitable niche service?

Article Abstract:

A new trend emerging in the digital printing arena is the digital printing of wall coverings. The advantages of digital wall coverings over analog wallpaper include design flexibility and low inventory cost. Since the digital wallpaper concept is still new and faces tough competition from interior wall paints, digital printers need to aggressively promote digital wall coverings to architectural and interior design firms.

Commercial labs at the crossroads

Article Abstract:

Commercial laboratories will reach an important crossroads in 2001, and must choose a direction for the future. It is clear to some companies that consolidation is the answer. However, the consolidation of commercial laboratories is only part of the picture. The next technology to make a big impact on indusatry is superwide-format digital printers, which are capable of printing directly upon any substrates for either indoor or outdoor applications. The changing marketplace has also led photographers' decreasing reliance on commercial laboratories.
