Jackpot! Jackpot! Jackpot!

Article Abstract:

Significant changes have taken place since the 1970s in the technology on which slot machines are based. However, the physical profile of the slot machine has remained almost unchanged, with its graphics still showing strong links with the penny slots of the early 20th century or jukeboxes of the 1930s. Slot machine design now places strong emphasis on theming, with game narratives, melodies, icons and cabinet graphics being used to invoke many different fantasy places or eras.
