KPMG buzzes

Article Abstract:

The UK's third largest firm, KPMG's annual results for the year ended 30 September 2005 showed a 20% fee increase on 2004, bringing its total revenues to pounds sterling 1.28 billion. The chief executive officer for KPMG, Griffith Jones highlights advisory work as the growth area, particularly the risk advisory practice, which grew 48% in 2005, and also sees buoyancy continuing in the year 2006.

A road map to merger

Article Abstract:

The roadmap for merging the institutions of the ICAEW, CIMA and CIPFA is explored, for which its members would be asked to vote on the consolidation. With the merger of these institutes, the new body would have over 200,000 members and it would be able to overtake both the Brazilian and the Chinese institutes to become the second largest accountancy institute in the world.

The self-interests of the Big Four accounting firms may be motivating proposed limits on auditor liabilities in the United Kingdom. However, larger factors are playing a role in the proposed limits.
