Keeping your income healthy

Article Abstract:

People wishing to protect themselves financially in the event of long-term disability, resulting from an accident or a major illness, may avail of two types of insurance policies that provide financial assistance in such situations. One type of insurance is the critical health insurance policy, which pays policyholders a set amount, usually under 100,000 pounds sterling, in the event that the policyholder is diagnosed for a prespecified health problem. The other type of insurance is the permanent health insurance policy, which provides a policyholder with a regular income, usually limited to a maximum of 60,000 pounds sterling a year, for the entire duration of time that the disability prevents the policyholder from working.

Private care at a premium

Article Abstract:

Private medical insurance plans have become increasingly popular among high-income earners. Many people who can afford these relatively expensive medical plans are taking out policies as a hedge against the possibility of being wait-listed for National Health Service (NHS) treatment. An estimated 11% of all Britons are covered by such private medical insurance plans, although most are members of group schemes. The types of private medical insurance plans that are most commonly taken up are full-coverage standard plans, NHS waiting list plans, low-premium excess plans and moderately-priced budget plans.

Private health plans suffer as costs soar

Article Abstract:

Private health care is somewhat dependent on corporate health care programs as individuals are covered by the National Health Service. Rising costs dictate that employers need to learn to manage these programs better and should take advantage of expert services, usually from third party administrators. Insurance companies themselves have not been giving the kinds of service needed.
