Lockheed Sniper targets navy pod market

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corporation is integrating its newest targeting pod, the Sniper XR, on the F/A-18 Hornet strike fighter to compete against Raytheon Company for the Navy market, as the service reviews its options for the procuring the systems. The Navy currently is buying Raytheon's Advanced Tactical Forward Looking Infrared targeting pod, for which it awarded the company a $298 million contract for full-rate production in December 2004.

Lockheed might salvage electronics from failed ACS job

Article Abstract:

The loss incurred in the contract, which terminated the supply of sensors by Lockheed Corporation, could be reduced by providing the electronics necessary into any of the intelligence aircraft which military would purchase. The electronics, which make the heart of the AC5, could be supplied to the Army and could be used in the making of intelligence aircraft.
