Losing altitude in a stiff wind: CFO compensation is deflating as companies cut option grants and try to avoid investor outrage. However, hikes in other forms of pay are easing the pain

The annual pay survey by Pearl Meyer & Partners, the New York based compensation consulting firm reports a fall of 4.2 percent in total compensation for CFO's in 2003 as compared to the prior year. The total payouts to treasurers in 2003 fell more than 6 percent and controllers lost a bit as well.
