Harvey: Cutting FCS will just delay army modernization

Article Abstract:

Army Secretary Francis Harvey stated that cuts to the Army Future Combat System (FCS) program would only delay the first major modernization of the service's ground forces in decades and also there would be need of supplemental appropriations, or the Army's readiness would suffer after current combat operations end. To be a system of systems, FCS is to be made up of manned and unmanned vehicles and other components linked through an advanced network.

Analyst: CECOM mismanages advanced comms programs

Article Abstract:

Defense analysts believe that the mismanagement of many top next-generation Army communications technologies has left the Future Combat Systems (FCS) in doubt. With Francis Harvey proving able leadership to the Army as its secretary, the blame lies with officials at the Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) in New Jersey, Loren Thompson, of the Lexington Institute.
