Man U a win, say brokers

Article Abstract:

Manchester United soccer club has seen a drop in its stock price after match defeats, but stockbrokers are positive about the club's stocks. Five brokers from a sample of six rate the stocks a buy, and one rates them a hold. The Holder is Henry Cooke Lumsden, while buyers include Greig Middleton which sees the club as a possible takeover target. SBC Warburg is also a buyer, and Merrill Lynch, Wise Speke and Salmon Brothers see the stocks as likely to perform well over the long term.

Tottenham Hotspur: kicking with the wind

Article Abstract:

Tottenham Hotspur is a UK soccer club which has not seen a rise in share price as high as that of Manchester United. The club's chairman is Alan Sugar who is involved in a disagreement over player transfer values. The club has not won a major trophy in five years and last headed the league 35 years ago, but has long-term prospects. More wealth is likely to be transferred into soccer through television, and the club ranks among the major six UK soccer clubs.
