Heterogeneity and transferring practices: implementing flow manufacturing in multiple plants

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that heterogeneity among a company's manufacturing plants, resulting from variations in both manager choices and resource endowments, can complicate knowledge and training transfer between plants. Impacts on achieving company-wide distinctiveness are discussed.

Scanning dynamic competitive landscapes: a market-based and resource-based framework

Article Abstract:

A firm-level comparison of market- and resource-based methodologies for analyzing competitive fields shows that rareness is important in resource functionality rather than resource type. Implications for sustainability and attainability of competitive advantage are examined.
