Indpendent Radio Group has developed a portfolio comprising seven radio stations since it was set up. The company's stations have a higher value than its market capitalization. IRG has seen a drop in listener numbers for 4th qtr 1997, and this is linked to the acquisition of ScotFM in 1996. Achieving the right format takes time, but the price paid for the acquisition was good, and overheads have been reduced by 1.2 million pounds sterling. The company may carry out further acquisitions, which would make it more attractive.
