Accounting firms may achieve brand identity by emphasizing service, satisfaction and success. These can be achieved by responding properly to trends in accounting services. These trends include the use of information technology to speed up information gathering, processing, storage and transmission, adding value to clients' businesses, havaing a personal touch, specialization, rightsizing, research-based marketing and the use of state-of-the-art marketing methods.

Public accounting firms are highly susceptible to complacency in the area of customer services. To offset this complacency, public accounting firms should develop a customer-focused market research program to accurate customer satisfaction levels. Several guidelines on how to properly design and implement a customer-focused market research program are presented.
