McCain proposes procurement study, possible reform

Article Abstract:

Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, stated that if current regulations represent too many 'impediments' to successful acquisition programs then reviewing and potentially reforming federal procurement policy should take place. He put that proposal forward after the top Army acquisition official explained why a less-stringent Other Transactions Authority (OTA) is better for the Army's massive Future Combat System (FCS) program than conventional awards program.

Lawmakers reject curb on arms to China: Manufacturers laud death of China arms-sale bill

Article Abstract:

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has welcomed the House defeat of the East Asia Security Act (H.R. 3100), a bill tending to curb arms sales to China. The measure would have placed the US economic sanctions against nations that sell arms to China and would also have endangered a significant portion of the US defense trade with some of its closest allies, especially in the EU.
