McCurry, Molinari seek to speed up 'Net access
Article Abstract:
A coalition of computer companies, Internet firms, telecommunications companies and public interest groups called iAdvance is seeking to speed up Internet access through investment in broadband technology. Broadband data transmission allows multiple bits of data to be sent at once through a medium or wire, unlike baseband communications where only a single piece of information is sent at one time. iAdvance is working to expand the percentage of American consumers with access to broadband technology, which currently stands at only 2%.
