Article Abstract:

The creation of the 38-acre Legoland theme park in Carlsbad, California, took 100,000 hours which involved making a landscape, putting in electrical supplies and drainage systems and building the models. The theme park in California cost $130 million. The Minilands are made from Lego which can be purchased by the public. Its aim is to inspire users to be more creative. Legoland was started in the 1950s in Billund, Denmark. Other parks are planned for Spain and Japan. Lego's sales in the US fell to $364 million in 1997 from $366 million in 1994 and in 1999 Lego recorded a loss.

As its design manager pointed out, what the customer gets is a shoe that does not look like something else.

Wet dreams

Article Abstract:

Securing adequate water supplies has been a key issue in Las Vegas, NV, for many years. Water conservation measures have been implemented, and there are also plans to purchase water from neighbouring Arizona. Water forms a key element of the entertainment experience in Las Vegas, especially at the Venetian, modelled on Venice, Italy, in the Renaissance. The city's many dramatic water features make the desert seem very far away.
