Multiple metaphor environments: designing for diversity

Article Abstract:

Multiple Metaphor Environments are interactive computer based environments, which are capable of coping with diversity in users, interaction platforms and the usage contexts. A set of engineering principles, process-oriented guidelines and design techniques are examined in order to facilitate a detailed account of how interactive systems could be designed to cope with diversity.

Internationalization and localization: evaluating and testing a website for Asian users

Article Abstract:

A study is undertaken to combine internationalization and localization of websites and improvement of website usability with user centered design methods. A performance measurement test is conducted to investigate the performance for Asian user and the results provide suggestions for improving the Website usability from the localization perspective.

Design and evaluation of computerized operating procedures in nuclear power plants

Article Abstract:

A small-scale virtual system is developed to enhance operator's understanding and operating performance in nuclear power plant. An experiment conducted to verify the effect of computerized graphic interface indicates that the computerized system significantly decreases learning time and improves operational performance.
