NNA sweetens Los Alamos fee offer

Article Abstract:

The National Nuclear Security Administration has doubled the fee offered to companies looking for the operating contract for Los Alamos National Laboratory, with the winner eligible to get seven times the amount being earned by the lab's current operator, the University of California. Under the draft RFP, NNSA was offering a total possible fee equivalent of the lab's annual budget request to Congress, with 30 percent of that fee guaranteed and 70 percent subject to performance review.

New policy to cut contractor security clearance delays

Article Abstract:

The Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO) has issued a declaration of principles that provide specific guidance to Department of Defense (DOD), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to stop agencies from conducting unnecessary additional security reviews. This principle helps contractors to file complaints with those agency officials, who will be responsible for fixing the problems, thus enabling to report it to ISOO.

NNSA shrugs off criticism, moves on Y-12 HEU facility

Article Abstract:

The National Nuclear Security Admission would proceed with construction of a new high-enriched uranium storage building at the Y-12 plant despite criticisms from Energy Department auditors about the design and cost of the facility. The High Enriched Uranium Materials Facility (HEUMF) would allow Y-12 to consolidate all of its sensitive nuclear materials in one highly defensible facility.
