Niche little earners

Article Abstract:

Many law firms in Manchester, England, have found niches to specialise in, and the include Dibb Lupton Alsop with its regulatory unit. The company focuses on regulatory bodies and their relationships with companies and this is a major area of law. Smaller law firms have specialised in fields such as advice for sports and entertainment. Hill Dickinson has moved into Manchester and enlarges the city's marine insurance base. Law relating to commercial real estate is another expanding niche in Manchester.

Drinking from the European cup

Article Abstract:

Law firms in Leeds, England, have seen an increase in work on mergers and acquisitions, and should benefit from the development of Leeds as a European center for financial services. London is also becoming less dominant in the market. Some law firms operating in Leeds are very large, such as Evershed, which ranks second in the UK market. Leeds law firms are becoming increasingly involved in the purchase of firms trading in a number of countries, and are taking on work that previously went to London.

Legal eagles

Article Abstract:

Law firms in Manchester, England, have been affected by rapid change as mergers reshape the industry. Law firms need to be able to attract staff with adequate rewards in order to offer enough expertise, and this means that smaller firms may not be able to compete easily, unless they specialise in niche areas. Insurance litigation is one sector that is flourishing. Larger firms are diversifying, as is the case of Eversheds' Home 2 Home service.
