Aussie windfall

Article Abstract:

Colonial Mutual investors have been given free shares and have to decide whether to retain them by May 2 1997. The life insurer is an Australian mutual which plans a stock market flotation on May 19 1997. There are 360,000 UK investors from a total of 600,000. Colonial offers free dealing for investors deciding to sell before the deadline. There are problems in assessing the company's prospects for UK investors who may have limited access to Australian financial information, but most investors will have enough shares to make retaining them worthwhile.
