Of wisden and wicket-keepers

Article Abstract:

Cricket devotees and collectors hunt a wide range of crickets memorabilia. These may include cricket bats, belt buckles, scorecards, jugs and tankards and menu-cards from cricket dinners. However, the most popular target are back issues of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, a yearbook of the game that has been published each year since 1864. These old issues are so rare and fragile that collectors who have a collection of these may choose not to touch them at all to avoid damage. In that case, a facsimile version of the earlier Wisdens may be considered. Photographs detailing the history of the game are also popular, particularly those taken by George Beldam. Cricketing prints are also much sought-after although these have become too pricey for common collectors to afford. Lamentably, the expensiveness of most cricket artifacts is a major roadblock for the true enthusiasts of the game.

Good relations: Finance directors who believe their companies are judged only on their accounts are out of touch and should concentrate more on their investor relations skills

Article Abstract:

There has been lack of literature recounting the experiences of financial directors, but Investor Relations Meetings: Views of Companies, Institutional Investors and Analysts, should fill the gap. It incorporates interviews with players in investor relations, telling their story in their own words. Analysts and stockbrokers need to communicate what is happening in a company, and this cannot be communicated in a report and accounts, according to one FE in the report.
