Offers for KB are secret at the moment

Article Abstract:

Komercni banka (KB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, will be privatized in 2001, being the last state bank in the Czech Republic. According to earlier estimates, the government expects that it will receive CEK 35-45 bil for a 60% stake in the bank. Goldman Sachs, the government's privatization adviser, took over binding price offers for the purchase of KB in London, the UK, on 12 May 2001. Information about the final offers of bidders for KB are under a strict embargo. KB's assets were CEK 402 bil at the end of 2000. Its share on the domestic deposit market is 20% and its share on the local credit market 14%. The bank saw a loss of CEK 19 mil in 2000.

The Italian firm IntesaBci wins a tender for VUB

Article Abstract:

Vseobecna uverova banka (Bratislava, Slovakia), bank, has a new majority shareholder. The shareholder is the financial and bank group IntesaBci (Italy), which won a tender over the bank Societe Generale (France). The purchasing price was not reported. IntesaBci was set up as a merger of Banca Commerciale Italiana and Banca Intesa on 01 May 2001.

KB's consolidated loss decreases

Article Abstract:

Komercni banka (KB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, saw a consolidated loss of CEK 152 mil in 2000, according to international accounting standards. In 1999 the bank generated a loss of CEK 9.29 bil. KB's consolidated balance sum increased by nearly CEK 13 bil to CEK 409.09 bil in 2000 compared to 1999.
