One step ahead of the law

Article Abstract:

Business valuators have to keep abreast with the latest environmental legislation because the promulgation of new environmental laws is unpredictable and no coordination on these laws exists among the different levels of government. Furthermore, valuators will increasingly be called upon to assess the impact of legislation. Liability arises from ignoring federal, provincial and common laws and may be in the form of fines, profit-stripping, damage awards or orders. Environmental and land use laws may restrict the marketability and use of real property.
