Ergonomics has many applications in the European Community countries and could contribute to quality enhancement, accident prevention and reduction in the cost of health care. Organizations such as the British Coal Corporation, the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Standards Organization have issued guidelines for the application of ergonomics in their respective departments.
