Pascoe's: no more dog days

Article Abstract:

Pascoe's is a UK producer of pet food which has seen a drop in its share price. The company has acquired Maidex which makes extruded feeds, and the company is reducing its debt levels. Pascoe's should also benefit from the expansion of demand for pellet and flake food in the UK. Maidex is a useful acquisition because it will increase Pascoe's margins by bringing capabilities into Pascoe's. The addition of Maidex's clients will also help Pascoe's. Pascoe's profit is forecast st 450,000 pounds sterling by Rowan Dartington.

Colgate-Palmolive

Article Abstract:

Colgate-Palmolive was set up from the merger of Palmolive and Colgate in 1928. The company ranks first in the world market for a number of products such as toothpaste and premium pet food. Mexican consumption dropped in 1995 which affected results. Overseas sales account for some 65% of the total and this reliance on emerging markets is seen as a result of weak business in the US. The company has been criticized for insufficient investment and innovation.
